Alex Case TEFLtastic is a website that manily helps EFL teachers. There are thousands of classroom materials anad articles about teaching techniques. Learners of Business English can also find what they need in this website.
Organisation and Layout
The organisation and layout of each post is very clear. The blogger uses different fonts to distinguish content. For example, the title is in bold and bigger. The following explaination is short and is in a different font. The main part is all useful web links. In my opinion, the only drawback is that too many linkes are arranged in the same way. It might leads to visual fatigue and ignorance of the information. Using pictures with the topic words of the links' content might help readers to find what they need easily.
However, there is no clear distinction between each blog post. My groupmembers and I suggest to add partition lines between two posts.
Content and Features
As I said, each blog post includes the title, the description, and the main body. The body part accounts for almost 90%, while the description is very short. There are dates and authors of the blog posts. We also found that the blogger uses "Xmas" and "TEFLtastic" in the content. We thought it might be difficult for some people to understand.
Ease of use and Navigation
It is relatively easy to find what you need on this website. Because there is a search bar on the right side of the page. You can directly type in keywords or select a category and then search for relevant content. There are also a tag cloud and lists for top blogs and least popular ones below. These show readers' interests. The tag cloud and top list can help you quickly jump to pages you might interest. If you're looking for a TEFL article, you can go directly to the PDF download page or the online text page.
However, it is hard to find related web pages by using the menu. You have to browse a long option menu before you find what you need.
Target audience
The target audience of TEFLtasic includes EFL teachers and language learners of business English. We noticed that the two most recent comments on this website are left at June 2023 and March 2023. It shows there is little audience engagement with the blog.
Summary
I learned how to use various fonts to distinguish my blog content and use some visual tools like tag clouds. What stands out is that the content of each blog post is well-balanced. I will follow this to organize my content in my future blog post.

ReplyDeleteGreat start here - an excellent post! It's great that your blogging buddies are also supporting you with positive comments. I also like the watery background to your post - nice and relaxing! The comments on TEFLtastic are great since it is clear that they are your unique opinions forged in discussion with your friends. You helpfully point out the less successful aspects such as the lack of pictures in post titles or the need for a line or partition between the posts. When a blog has TOO much content it can be hard to navigate to find what you want, so it's good that you point out the search tools and warn against using the menu as a way of looking for something. Good work in spotting that the comments do not seem to be very recent - perhaps they are not so active these days for some reason. You have embedded a useful advice video at the end of the post - well done. Keep up the good work - I look forward to reading all you other posts in April!
